Special Sessions
Prospective organizers are invited to submit proposals for special sessions. Special sessions, like regular sessions, are oral technical sessions with at least five speakers each. The special session organizer’s role is to invite the five speakers, ensure that the papers are submitted on time, organise the review, ensure that authors of accepted papers submit the camera ready papers through the official online system and remind participants to register for the conference. The session organiser should also chair the session.

Those willing to organize special session, please contact Assoc. Prof. Mario Muštra, ELMAR-2025 Program Chair: elmar@fer.hr. The deadline for proposals is 3 May 2025.

Summary
The goal of the session “Maritime communications and sailing safety” is to present, through selected presentations a regulatory framework, current trends in the domain of maritime communications and safety, as well as examples of the use of digital technologies to achieve sustainable business and increase competitiveness.

Paving the Road towards 6G

— Marek Galinski, PhD Associate Professor
Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia

— Philipp Svoboda, PhD Senior Researcher
Institute of Telecommunications, TU Wien, Austria

Contact: marek.galinski@stuba.sk

Summary:

Nowadays the 5G technology is already rolled-out around the world, but we still do not see its full potential yet. Nevertheless, regulatory bodies and hundreds of researchers are starting to address the 6G topic. This special session is dedicated to key innovations, new applications and enabling technologies that will pave the road to 6G with emphasis on how these innovations and technologies can be deployed and what impact they may bring. We happily appreciate all papers related to this topic, no matter if they bring disrupting ideas or holistic approach and/or risks to be addressed for innovations in 6G.

Intelligent Transportation Systems - AI based Smart Mobility

— Vilmos Simon, PhD Associate Professor, Head of MEDIANETS Lab
Department of Networked Systems and Services, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary

Contact: svilmos@hit.bme.hu

Summary:

This special session is dedicated to Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), especially focusing on new, artificial intelligent based solutions for Smart Mobility. The surge in urbanisation and the concomitant growth of the urban population have exacerbated issues such as traffic congestion and air pollution across cities globally. ITS have emerged as promising tools to mitigate these issues, incorporating technologies such as machine learning, data analytics, and advanced communication systems. We are expecting research papers targeting the field of novel ITS solutions, from machine learning to V2X systems.
